Computer Technology for Future Classrooms

A few months ago I was asked what a dream computer classroom/lab would look like. This information was used in the building of the new school. We did receive a few of these items which is amazing.

School Technology of the future

1 Wireless Tablets for students connected to server which will be connected to each class room teacher station. Daily assignments, progress and grading can be viewed on the tablets. Tablets can be viewed by parents, teachers and administrators. Tablets will have a morning calendar of what will be done for the day as well as reminders of what is due and when. Priority lists, upcoming projects and events. Students can also have an option to contact their parents via instant messenger for brief periods of the day. Sites will have be on a designated search engine which will only allow Oked sites. Tablets will be made from a sturdy casing and will include a touch screen with protective case. Tablets can only be used in school and in network umbrella areas. i.e. Library, places of parent employment and daycare.

2. Classrooms
Wireless hookup for each tablet which allows uploads as well as downloads.. Downloads assignments to specific programs for grading. Projectors and demo modes so that all students can look at each others work and , peer grade and compare it to rubrics that has been set by the teacher, district and state. In addition by federal governance. Smart boards could be used for presentations. Resist lighting or natural to encourage less glare and less eye strain. A Mic and Speaker system is set up so that all students can be heard. From time to time students should be able to use voice recognition for creating essays and assignments. Small Smart boards can be used for younger students in class then graduating to tablets (class only)

3. Thumbprint pad for daily attendance in each class including morning check in on busses, lunch money, check out of any books and payments due.
