Gibson Robot Guitar
December 7th may go down as one of the worst days in American history. But Gibson Guitar Company may change that! Well they help change it anyway. On Dec 7, 2007 Gibson started a new robot invasion with the Gibson Robot LP Studio LTD and the Gibson Robot SG Special LTD. And to make matters even more exciting on the launch day 4,000 happy and VERY LUCK guitarists were able to own the amazing self-tuning Gibson Robot. The Robot Les Paul Studio LTD will not be made again but Gibson will offer the Robot Les Paul Studio in limited edition Green Metallic and Purple Metallic finishes as well as in a Blue Silverbust. What is the cost you say? Retail is $3,499 for the Ltd so it might be cheaper for the Studio addition. So if your looking to buy a Gibson Guitar think about the robot Some highlights of this guitar are: 1. Gibson 490 and 498T pickups 2. Tune-Control Bridge and Data Transmitting Tailpiece 3. Nitrocellulose Finishes 4. Mahogany body and Maple top 5. Nuetrik Jack 6. 22 Fret Ebony Fingerboard 7. 50's rounded Neck Profile And at the heart of the Gibson Robot are its ground-breaking controls. The 4 knobs seem to be like the normal set up of any Les Paul but if you look closely you will notice a knob with an illuminated top. This knob serves as the master control (MCK). The MCK is a push pull style knob. When it is in the down position it acts as a normal volume knob. But when you pull out the knob it acts as a tuner and immediately puts the guitar in the "Standard Tuning Mode (A440)". A quick turn of the MCK gives the musician 6 preset factory presets (all of which can be customized as well). There is an LED display on top of the MCK that lets one know which string is out of tune or when all strings are in tune. At the end of the tuning process the LED will flash blue, once that happens just push in the MCK and your ready to rock. No more long sound checks and tuning and retuning.
