Teaching Computers in this day and age
Teaching Computers can be tough. What programs to use and how should you use them are questions that come up a lot from parents and my administration. I like to create project units which include different Microsoft Programs. If you do not have these programs you can always use some free shareware that is available. Adobe currently has some good programs. Below is one of my assignments that is called Alternative fuels. I did write more about an hour ago but the info did not upload so Im just pasting my assignment that I gave to the kids.
The Future of Alternative Fuels Alternative fuels are becoming more and more popular in helping to save the environment. Your task is to research 5 alternative fuels. Create a Word document and include the following:
• What is alternative fuel?
• Why are alternative fuels better for the environment than diesel or petroleum?
• In your opinion, do you think that we should use only alternative fuels in the future? Why or why not?
• Name 5 different types of alternative fuels and answer the following for each.
1. How is the fuel made? Be specific!
2. How many people relay on the fuel?
3. What is the many usage of the fuel?
4. What type of future hope does this fuel have? Be sure to include all of the above for full credit. Also, Pick 3 fuels that will be used specifically for the Automobile industry and give this information about it:
• How many miles per gallon does this fuel get?
• What type of care does one have to take when using this fuel (example is it explosive?).
• How much does it effect the environment? (Example does it omit less pollution, more mileage on a single gallon, etc.)
• Is it being used now? If yes who is using it, and how available is it. If no when will it be used if ever.
• What is the name of the car/vehicle that has the highest miles to the gallon? (name one experimental vehicle and one in production now) Last question: What do you think will be the best alternative fuel and why. 2 Paragraphs. Graded on grammar and spelling. Create a research page using with all the sites you used to research your project. GOOGLE IS NOT A RESEARCH SITE! Be sure to put the URL and not the search engine you used to find the information. This assignment is worth 150 points
